About me
I look at the patient as a whole, and from multiple angles. I can use a naturalistic approach, if that's the way the patient wants to go, or other avenues available to me. I tell patients that I can give them directions, but they drive the bus. I'm just along for the ride with them, and I will support them whatever direction they choose. It's important for patients to be an active participant in their health care.
I grew up in nearby Swanzey, so I am practicing in the community where I have lived my whole life and where my own kids are growing up. I treat my patients as if they're my family. I would not give them advice I wouldn't give my family, or my best friend. Working in a small community is so rewarding, and inspires me every single day. I like knowing that I am a positive influence in the community.
Primary care allows me to have relationships with patients, and to build on those relationships as I care for them. Patients like that they're involved in their care, and that I respect their decisions. I think healthcare is a journey, and it can be a bumpy road for some patients, a smooth road for others. I just feel privileged to be a part of their journey.
