About me
I became an OB/GYN to help women feel stronger and more in charge of their own health, to speak up for women’s healthcare, and to keep women safe. I love caring for women at every stage of life, whether in the clinic, in labor and delivery, in the operating room, or beyond. To me, success means helping patients reach their goals while keeping them safe.
I see myself as an educator first. My job is to use my training to explain a patient's diagnosis, lab results, imaging, and treatment options. I educate patients on the risks and benefits of each treatment option, in a way that makes sense to them. I believe in shared decision-making. That means my medical advice and my patients' needs and goals both matter when we choose a plan.
I also want the people who support patients to be part of their care. I make sure everyone in the room can share concerns, ask questions, and feel included. I explain the medical situation to them as clearly as I explain it to patients, so they can support them and speak up for them.
Patients tell me that I explain things well and give them many choices, so they can pick the treatment that is best for them.
The most rewarding part of my work is helping patients through hard times. No matter how complex the situation, I want patients and their families to understand it. I explain what is happening, weigh the risks and benefits, and help patients make choices that are right for them. I also love treating health issues that patients have been putting up with for too long. It's a special moment when a patient realizes that what they were told was just part of being a woman is something we can work to fix together.
