About me
I like to keep things simple for patients. I try to respond to what they are expecting and what they want. Every patient has a different goal in mind, and I want to know what their most important thing is, not what is important to me. I hear from patients that I'm pretty good at explaining things to them, so that they can understand and everything makes sense to them. They say that I'm relatable and they are comfortable with me.
I always wanted to be in medicine because I liked the idea of helping people. Nursing was really hands-on for me and I felt like I could make a difference. I've always had a caring personality. Family medicine is a good fit for me because I can do a lot of different things with it. I enjoy being able to take care of entire families. I know the kids, I know the parents, I know the grandparents.
I might have my own agenda for a patient, but it's not about what I want. When patients feel like the relationship has been collaborative and we've gotten somewhere, that’s a success. I love being able to make a difference. It’s rewarding to interact with patients, often in some of their most vulnerable moments. There’s something so special about being allowed to take care of someone.
