I entered medicine because I enjoy educating, caring for, and supporting patients to achieve their healthcare goals. My role is to ensure that my patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Then, they can make decisions about their care that is best for them. I build trusting relationships where my patients feel heard and included in the care they receive.

When family members are included, it is important to validate the family's thoughts and feelings. Open discussion can help guide those involved in understanding my patient's wishes and decisions so family can support the patient.

Success for me is when a patient makes a decision for themselves and they feel confident in that decision.
