About me

Dr. Daniel M. Mackin is a licensed psychologist in New Hampshire and Vermont with extensive experience providing psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. He specializes in the treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders, as well as trauma, relationship difficulties, and managing stress and other life events. Dr. Mackin is dedicated to providing evidence-based psychotherapy, and he has experience providing a range of traditional and third-wave cognitive-behavioral interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He emphasizes a client-focused approach to psychotherapy in which he works with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan that integrates across different treatment modalities to help clients best meet their individual goals.

Dr. Mackin also conducts research aimed at improving the assessment, measurement, and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders through the integration of new technologies. His recent research has focused on the use of passively-collected data from smartphones and wearable devices to predict and characterize depression and anxiety, and the development and successful implementation of a proprietary A.I. driven therapist (Therabot) to treat depressive, anxiety, and eating disorder symptoms.

Dr. Mackin completed his bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He completed his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Stony Brook University and his doctoral internship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Mackin subsequently completed his postdoctoral fellowship at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. In 2024, Dr. Mackin joined the faculty at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry.
