About me
My interest in nephrology and renal transplant started at a young age because I grew up with multiple family members who suffered from renal disease, dialysis, and transplant. I became a donor to one of my siblings. In what is considered a very rare occurrence, my remaining kidney failed about a decade after donation. I started on dialysis and subsequently had a kidney transplant. As a family member, caregiver, donor, and recipient, I have a unique and intimate knowledge of what nephrology and transplant patients undergo. My experiences give me a personal passion for providing care to this special population.
I believe in having open, honest conversations with my patients without judgment. I explain their care without using medical jargon. My sense of humor and my ability to relate to my patients allow me to build a quick rapport with them.
Success after a kidney transplant means more than just good lab results. It also means an improved quality of life. I measure success by seeing my patients feel better after having a transplant. I enjoy knowing that the care I give positively affects my patients' health and lives.
