About me
Anesthesiology appeals to me because it is a procedure-based specialty that allows me to interact regularly with patients. When I meet with my patients, I start by asking if they have any questions or specific concerns about anesthesia. This helps me gauge whether they have any anxiety about anesthesia that may need to be addressed first before we discuss the planned procedure. Often there are several appropriate options, which I outline carefully, allowing us to formulate a collaborative plan for anesthesia. Patients tell me that I'm a good listener and explain things well.
I also specialize in regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine, which allows me to focus on treating the pain associated with recent surgery. Treating postoperative pain can be very challenging as the approach varies with each patient. It is rewarding when patients are able to be comfortable even while recovering from a major operation.
